In designing its new automatic vertical solution, the Ferretto Group has not only focused on increased efficiency, flexibility and reliability: with Vertimag it has also stepped up safety. From design to after-sales assistance, from operators’ working conditions to the protection of goods: every single detail has been evaluated and improved in order to develop a system with the highest safety standards. This is even more relevant given Vertimag's ability to handle materials of any shape, weight and size. Anti-seismic configurations, operator protection systems, devices for the protection of goods during handling and storage: let's see what the new automatic vertical storage system developed by the Ferretto Group offers in terms of safety.
For some time now, the Ferretto Group has been designing and constructing its storage systems paying special attention to anti-seismic features. The same applies to the new Vertimag. When the anti-seismic version is requested, installation is preceded by a rigorous study carried out by the Structural Calculation Team to identify the most suitable solution and thus guarantee the necessary safety. Having an anti-seismic storage system does not only mean responding to specific legal obligations but is also an investment in the future and a way to offer safe working conditions. Specifically, the new Vertimag has a modular anti-seismic structure able to withstand the stress to which it can be subjected in the different installation sites. In greater detail, 5 types of stress are taken into consideration, which depend on the seismic accelerations and the kind of soil of the site. Thus, before installation, the Ferretto Group verifies the types of stress the installation site may generate and, consequently, the level of reinforcement needed. In any case, the basic version incorporates all the anti-seismic features required for the first two categories for heights up to 8 meters. As the stress becomes more severe, there are 3 levels of reinforcement for the structure of the storage system.
Particular attention is paid to operators' safety. With Vertimag, the focus is first and foremost on the machine's ability to guarantee optimal working conditions at all times. Its configuration makes the system highly comfortable: the picking bay, located at a height of 750 mm from the floor, allows the operator to handle the goods stored in the trays with no compromise on ergonomics and safety. This characteristic stands out in the Ergo Tech bay, an exclusive Ferretto Group solution which, thanks to a second lift placed inside the structure, ensures the flows of double bay solutions without requiring any extra space. In addition, the Ferretto Group equipped the new Vertimag with devices that improve safety, such as photocells installed strategically to prevent accidents when the trays need to be moved, and the shutter that allows the machine to be closed when it is idle or the lift is working. Thanks to the new panel PC and the latest generation dashboard, operators can carry out all storage system management operations in a simple and safe way, with just a few clicks and with no need to take off their gloves. Special support systems for the lift have also been added to prevent accidental drops during any service or repair operation. Finally, the operator can monitor the status of the machine from the panel at any time, viewing the information collected by the sensors and receiving warnings regarding scheduled maintenance to be performed.
The protection of the goods that are stored and handled is among the certainties that a storage system must provide. With its flexible configuration and the numerous accessories available, Vertimag guarantees the proper preservation of the stored materials, regardless of their shape and size. A range of 120 different trays offers the most suitable solution for the height and weight of the load units, thus avoiding any damage. External aids - such as hoists and other lifting devices - facilitate maximum care during picking and handling operations, even when working with large items. A further guarantee of safety is also provided by the management software: only authorized personnel can access the machine, which avoids any inappropriate use or theft of material.
