Customer: Eurocell
Sector: manufacturer of PVC profiles
Place: South Normanton – United Kingdom
As a leading manufacturer, distributor, and recycler of PVC windows, doors, conservatories, and roofline products, Eurocell wanted to increase their storage capacity to support their year-on-year growth. With this set to continue, part of their strategy was to focus on supporting their branches and fabrication customers throughout the UK by creating a more efficient warehouse.
Eurocell’s product portfolio consists of profile lengths of uPVC which are stored on stillages, typically 6m x 1m, and creating a weight load of 1.5 tonnes per stillage. These are also difficult to store on standard pallet racks due to the need to stabilize the racks with uprights. The current pick and replenish process in operation at Eurocell also added further complications as they pick from the narrow stillage face, but replenish from the wide face.
They turned to our UK partner Quickline to help design a solution that would maximize their storage capacity, whilst dealing with the challenges posed. The proposed solution was to use mobile Cantilever racking Cantifer as this would accommodate the weight load, whilst allowing the operator to access the pick side of the stillage. By installing the cantilever on mobile bases, it ensured the storage capacity was maximized and allowed for further expansion.
