Multi-depth Drive-In pallet storage with shuttle
Flexy - the pallet shuttle – provides the idealautomated solution to manage a multi-depth storage system, in manufacturing facilities characterized by a high number of transactions and a high number of inventory items.
Powered by lithium batteries with a long autonomy, the shuttle runs along rails inside a storage channel, guided into drive-in racks via remote control or via WMS management systems. Pallets are moved in and out of storage without the aid of forklifts, increasing the storage capacity and reducing operating time, the risk of accidents and the costs resulting from damaged racks.
This high-density storage system allows different products to be grouped by channel, unlike what happens in drive in systems, where the same product fills the entire tunnel (all the channels in the same column). To ensure maximum system efficiency, the number of shuttles in the storage system is determined on the basis of several factors:
• Number of pallets handled per hour
• Length of channels and number of lines
• Required loading/unloading time
• Number of forklifts operating at the same time
The handling of the pallets outside of the rack is conducted using a forklift.
The forklift places the Flexy Shuttle on the rails of the row where the pallets need to be stored.
The load is then picked up by the shuttle, that carries it within the rack, without any further human intervention. At the operator`s order, Flexy deposits the load in the first free location in the channel, while compacting the pallets as much as possible. Once the operation is completed, the shuttle automatically returns to the front face to receive the next load.
Meanwhile, operators can work collecting the next pallet for loading, without wasting any time.
All of this resulting in an optimized warehouse, with increased efficiency, high performance and greatest safety of the goods and operators.
Suitable for both FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In, First-Out) warehouses, the Flexy pallet shuttle is the ideal high-density storage system for large volume pallet racking, the natural evolution of Drive-In racking with respect to which it is more flexible, safer and faster.

Thanks to its versatility, Flexy can be used in a wide range of applications, even in cold rooms, with temperatures down to -30°C in the Flexy Frozen version.
